Australian Longline is proud to partner with the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI). GSSI provides fisheries and aquaculture farms the opportunity to choose a certification scheme best suited for them, ensuring their continued access to global markets.
Due to regional differences in, and preferences for, certain certifications, fisheries and aquaculture operations are often forced to pay for multiple certifications leading to increased costs and operational inefficiencies. GSSI provides a single recognition of regional and global seafood certification schemes that meet the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organizations’ (FAO) Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries (CCRF) and FAO Ecolabelling Guidelines. This global recognition enables fisheries and aquaculture operations to reduce their certification costs and eliminate redundancy while still being recognised as a credible and robust in the global market.
This partnership provides Australian Longline with an improved insight into the future of certified sustainable and socially responsible fisheries while providing the opportunity to collaborate with global stakeholders to ensure that the seafood supply chain and consumers continue to have full confidence in the certification scheme associated with the fishery.
